BEING MOTIVATED AS A BUSINESS OWNER

What motivated you to continue running your business, even when the results weren’t as great as you expected?

Entrepreneurs know that this path of self-creation comes with its ups and downs. There are days where everything goes completely the opposite way of what you planned, and it certainly stings a little bit whenever that happens.

If this ever happens to me – and it does sometimes – determination is what makes me keep going. If I wasn’t a determined woman with determined business goals of my own, I would probably be working 9-5 in an office somewhere.

I created my own copywriting business because I enjoy writing. It made sense for me to help other professionals through that talent. The first time I got a copywriting gig, I enjoyed it so much that I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.

Even if clients decide to leave, I do not see a reason to be disappointed and ask myself whether I did anything wrong. Oddly enough, I feel the complete opposite.

When my business is not going through the best time, I remind myself that the journey of an entrepreneur has different stages, and the twists and turns that come with each one is different for everyone.

It is also important to note that if a client decides to leave, the reasons behind their leaving may not have anything to do with anything you have done. Clients have their ups and downs as well, and sometimes they have to downsize their outsourcing until they can fix what they need to fix.

The thing I can control is client satisfaction. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing others succeed thanks to my copywriting and marketing services. If a client has to leave for whatever reason, but still leave satisfied with our services, I consider that a success.

Something else I can be open towards is inspiration. My first source of motivation is keeping in mind why I decided to start my business in the first place. I love what I do, and being able to help others with my services makes me really happy.

Yet another thing I can be open towards is experience. If you told me 5 years ago that I would be giving presentations about running your own business and being a woman of entrepreneurial talent and worth, I would have told you that you were crazy. But sure enough, I have been doing just that.

Finally, I have been very lucky in being open towards the people I work with. For me, everyone I work with are business owners in their own right, and it is always nice to see everyone learning from one another and building upon the skills they have learned to make things even better.

Remember, owning a business is a process that has highs and lows, you just have to work hard to always meet your goals.
