LET’S TALK ABOUT HASHTAGS

If you are experienced in the social media world in any way, you might have heard about hashtags and the wonderful things they can do. However, if you are running a business and are not currently using hashtags in your posts, then you are definitely missing out on something big.

Hashtags are essentially labels for content. It helps those who are interested in a certain topic to find content on that same topic quickly. They are still the greatest tool for finding content online, categorized by subject! Therefore, I would like to tell you about my top 3 hashtag secrets!

1.- Every social media network is different. People tend to recycle posts from network to network. They post the same thing across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and more. It’s not wise to do that, because different audiences use different platforms for different purposes.

For example, you can get away with posting 30 hashtags per post on Instagram. That number of hashtags are what users of that platform are looking for. However, Twitter is not nearly as friendly towards that number of hashtags at all – use 2 or 3 hashtags and you would be pushing it. LinkedIn is very similar. 4 to 5 hashtags are what usually act as the hard limit per post.

Including hashtags in your Facebook post actually hurts your outreach capabilities, or at least it was the case some years ago. Some might say that you can include them now, but it is still very risky to attempt such a thing.

2.- Use hashtags that people are actually going to search for. This might sound obvious, but unfortunately, it is not as simple as it sounds.

I am the owner of a marketing company, so you might think that if I hashtag my services, that would be a good way of finding new clients. This is not necessarily true, for a very important reason.

Let’s say I use a hashtag for my pay-per-click services. If you are not a marketer or someone who knows about this technique, you will definitely not search for a hashtag that says #PPCServices. Even though it is a service that I provide, I am better off using a hashtag that my ideal client can find, like #MarketingHelp4Entrepreneurs

3.- Creating hashtags properly takes time. I have seen some people using hashtags randomly. Some even don’t correlate with one another, which does nobody any good.

Using hashtags correctly will guarantee the largest amount of visibility as organically as possible. That is why if you don’t have the time to do research to create the right hashtags and post them, hiring professionals to do it for you might be the best solution.

There are a lot of talented folks out there who have the knowledge and experience to take your account to the next level, simply by creating the appropriate posts, hashtags, and beautiful images.
