We want to make something clear, there aren’t ethical or unethical social media sites. There are ethical or unethical people, and when you bump into one of these you start thinking that it is the social media site’s fault, but the truth is that it isn’t.
It’s important to remember that almost everybody in the world has access to the internet, and what they post on a social media site is a reflection of their attitudes or behaviors.
When it comes to social media, you have to be aware of who you follow. When you interact with more and more people the chances of finding someone with poor ethics increases.
Even if you have been following someone whose content you have enjoyed, there is always a chance that it could start turning into the bad side. Such as, posting negative posts, criticizing others content, or just being mean to others. When this happens, it is time to stop paying attention to that person and don’t keep up with their content.
That is why we always try to spend some time in a person’s profile before following them. We take a look at their latest publications and try to figure out if there’s something wrong with it or not. Of course, this method wouldn’t work 100% of the time, but you will have a clearer vision of who you are interacting with.
Having this thought in mind will help you understand the behavior of certain people, and you will be able to choose who to follow on different social media sites.
Long story short, social media platforms aren’t “ethical” or “unethical”. Those are places to post and enjoy other people’s content and you are the one who makes the final decision on who to follow.
So, every time you go into a social media platform, remember to follow positive people who use these sites for the good. In doing this, you will see how your perception about these sites changes.
